Brut
BRUT translates the distant sound war between North and South Korea into a compact, almost mute object. A concrete brick found with two ready-made openings already resembled a speaker, guiding the work before any sound was added. Once every minute, it emits fragments of South Korean freedom propaganda, echoing the ritual persistence of ideological messaging. By using an object that already seemed destined to speak, BRUT allows material to lead meaning. The stone becomes both medium and metaphor. Heavy, ordinary, and quietly recalling that it can carry a message, or be thrown.
